Alcalá de Henares says goodbye to 2013 with a New Year’s Concert of Crimean Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, in Teatro Salón Cervantes.

The Crimean State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1937, legislated by the City Council of Yalta. Ever since, the world of concert performance has been growing rapidly, influenced by many greatly talented contemporaries, such as Alexander Vertinsky, Claudia Shulzhenko and Lidia Ruslanova.
Today, the orchestra is one of the best artistic collectives in Ukraine, touring in Belorussia, Moldavia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other major Russian cities; also in Ukraine — in the capital city of Kiev, and in major regional capitals.
The Symphony Orchestra takes part in many collaborative music projects. Since 1995, the orchestra has been carrying out joint projects with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany). In 1999, Alexey Gulyanitsky and the German conductor Werner Stiefel staged Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”. The choirs from Baden-Baden and Heidelberg as well as soloists of the Hamburg State Opera took part in this project. “Carmina Burana” and Alexander Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances” have been performed in 2000 in Baden-Baden and Heidelberg.
The Symphony Orchestra performs series of subscription concerts in the cities of Crimea. With its program “Crimea’s New Names” the Orchestra reveals young talented performers to the Crimean audience. The Symphony Orchestra creates unique concert programs not only from the works of world classics, but also from the pieces of contemporary Ukrainian composers such as Andrei Shtogarenko, Yevgeni Stankovich, Miroslav Skorik, and the Crimean composers such as Alemdar Karamanov, Edem Nalbandov, Ilyas Bakhshish, Alexander Lebedev, Mersiye Khalitova, Elvira Emir.
