Alcalá is Committed to Tourism


The mayor of Alcalá de Henares has unveiled the municipal action outlines for the coming months in a ceremony attended by the local government and major institutions of the city.

Under the slogan «We start a new path», the mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Javier Bello, presented the main lines of action of the Complutense municipal government. Among the main commitments made by the mayor stands out its clear commitment to tourism and culture.

«Tourism and culture are in the case of Alcalá de Henares synonymous with ‘World Heritage City‘, reference elements for socio-economic development of the city».

«2014», the mayor said, «is the year of the ‘Complutense Polyglot Bible ‘ , the ‘Noche en Blanco’ , the ‘XXX Edition of Don Juan in Alcalá’, the recovery of our ‘Summer Cinema’ proposals to add to the extensive annual program held in Alcalá». Also, Javier Bello has pledged to work to «recover what is ours, as the Royal Patronage».

Javier Bello has also announced that in 2013, continued to grow as the importance of Alcalá as a city to host meetings and conferences, with more than 1,000 last year, compared to 600 in 2012. «We’re doing the best showcase of Alcalá, facilitating the holding of national and international events of the first magnitude».
